SYGROVE, Alma Helen (nee Winsor) – Peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor on Monday, September 7, 2020 in her 97th year. Alma is predeceased by her loving husband Fred (2011), daughter Nancy (2017), her parents Arthur and Elizabeth (Sparkes) and her siblings Arthur, Hazel, Susanna, James, Rhodes and Olive. Loving mother to Allan (Louise) and Brian (Megan). Loving grandmother to Jill Sygrove (Jamie), Andrew (Lindsay) Thomas, Geoff Sygrove, Laura Sygrove (Rich Fittousi), Kevin Thomas and Jeremy (Rachael) Sygrove. Cherished great-grandmother of Seth, Turner, Mac, Logan, Olivia, Evan and Isabella. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Collins and brother Ted Winsor along with many nieces and nephews. She was a special “grandma” to Sandy at MGM. Alma was a member of the United Church of Canada for most of her life. She was born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and was raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She married Fred in 1946 and raised their 3 children in the Sarnia area. She was a Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Alma was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #62 and served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Not only did she hold down a full time job at Curran Construction while raising a family, she also volunteered many hours at the Legion for different functions, she was a Cub leader, attaining Gilwell status and transported and supported her two sons and others in the Sarnia Sertomanaires Drum and Bugle Corp. During her retirement, Alma and Fred enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, fishing, golfing, volunteering (and socializing) at the Legion. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Alzheimer Society (Dementia Research) or the Royal Canadian Legion, Br #62 Poppy Fund. The family would like to truly thank all the MGM staff who had been personally involved in Alma’s care for the past 2½ years and for all their support given to her family. Through their compassion, kindness and caring dedication, they made Alma feel like she was part of their family. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday evening, September 10th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9. Due to the current Covid-19 crisis celebration of Alma’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N.
