Anna Israel

June 16, 1949 — February 18, 2022

It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Anna Israel on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the age of 72.  Beloved wife and best friend of Glenn for 47 years.

Loving mother to Corinne (Jamie) and Kris (Lindsey).  Dearest Nonna to Lilah, Matteo, Everitt and Bella.

Predeceased by her father Raffaele (1972), her mother Vittoria (2000) and her brother Tony (1997). Dear sister to Angela (Daryl) and Stella (Patrick).

Anna was born on June 16, 1949 in San Nicola da Crissa, Italy and she immigrated to Windsor, Ontario when she was two years old.  She took her BSCN at the University of Windsor, where she was part of the first graduating class.

She met Glenn at Sioux Lookout, Ontario, where she was working as a nurse and it was love at first sight!  They continued their relationship long-distance while Glenn worked in British Columbia and Anna worked in Windsor and they eventually got married in Windsor in 1974.

Anna went on to work as a nurse in London, Windsor and Sarnia.  She was Head Nurse of the Dialysis Unit at Sarnia General Hospital and later Quality Assurance Coordinator for all three area hospitals.

She eventually moved on to the Lambton Public Health Unit, where she worked in the Immunization and Sexual Health departments.

During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who loved her tremendously.  She went for frequent bike rides with Glenn around Canatara Park and the Bluewater Bridge.

She was a huge baseball fan and she spent a great deal of time discussing the Toronto Blue Jays with Glenn and Kris.

Her Italian heritage made her very appreciative of a good meal and she was an amazing cook.  Anna was very spiritual and she had a passion for seeing the joy in every single day.

She was truly the epitome of selfless, unconditional love.  She made a difference in the lives and hearts of everyone who knew her.  She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered.

A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
