HILLMAN, BENJAMIN ROBERT - Bob has passed peacefully on Monday, June 22nd, 2020 at Bluewater Health. He is survived by his son Rex of Sarnia, a nephew Jamie and wife Paula of Sarnia, and niece Paula Dumart of Leominster. MA, his brother Alfred and his wife Evelyn of Windsor. The Windsor family includes many nephews and nieces. Bob is predeceased by his wife Barbara (Gammon) married 51 years (2002). The Gammon family, Bud, Drina, Rex and their spouses have all passed and as well Bob’s parents Heward and Ruth, his brothers John and Donald and his sister Dorothy. Bob was employed for 34 years at Imperial Oil Ltd. He began in the drafting department but settled into the Mechanical Division #2 plant as a metal inspector. Bob attended major shutdowns at every refinery in Canada and Jamaica W.I. Bob was active in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church since before marrying Barb. In early days he was a member of the Men's club, the church choir, served as an elder, chaired the ushers club and took pleasure in helping out in the kitchen making meat pies for our church bazaar. Every maintenance activity or painting project was taken on with enthusiasm and many fast friendships were forged. Dad had led a good life and all those whom he had crossed paths with may remember his good nature, positive outlook, his willingness to help wherever and whenever he could. He will be missed. Private funeral and committal services have been be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9 on Thursday June 25th, 2020 with Rev. Dr. Emily Webb of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church officiating. Charitable donations made in his memory to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Memorial Fund are appreciated by the family.
