Christine Edith McCarthy (nee Maidman), age 76, of Corunna, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2006, after a courageous journey with dementia. Born on April 22,1950 in Sarnia, Ontario to Ken and Joyce Maidman, she lived a full life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Joyce and son John Paul McCarthy. She is lovingly survived by her husband Tim McCarthy Sr. of 59 years, her children Tim (Nicole D’Aoust) McCarthy Jr. of Sarnia, Ontario and Karen McCarthy of Vancouver, British Columbia; her grandchildren Olivia and Jordan McCarthy and many extended family members and friends.
Outside of work, her true joy was her family. She loved cooking, gardening and taking care of her home, which was always a welcoming place filled with warmth. When her children were young, her home was filled with her kids, their friends and kids from around the neighbourhood. She made sure everyone was cared for and fed. She spent many hours watching children playing in the family swimming pool. After her children were in their teens, she volunteered at the Sarnia Children's Centre where she was placed in classrooms to help children who had experienced great traumas. Christine was an empathetic soul who was drawn to children. She loved gathering games, crafts and toys for kids who visited her home or cottage.
"The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Sumac Lodge for the exceptional care and dignity they provided her with in her final years."
"A celebration of Christine’s life will be announced soon and will be held at a later date."
