Claudio Amílcar DeMelo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Claudio Amílcar DeMelo at Bluewater Health Hospital on December 20 2025. Born and raised in the beautiful landscapes of São Miguel, Açores, Claudio carried the spirit of his homeland and a deep faith with him throughout his life.

Claudio has been reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Maria Fatima Rodrigues DeMelo. He was an amazing husband who truly lived for his wife and his family; their bond was the foundation of everything he built.

He was a devout Catholic and a wonderful father, uncle, and grandfather. His legacy of love will be carried on by his children: Joe Rodrigues DeMelo and Fatima Rodrigues DeMelo Bento (Ananias Bento). He was the cherished grandfather of Catarina, Claudia, Fatima, and Ananias.

Claudio was predeceased by his brother, Joe DeMelo (survived by Jann), and his brother-in-law, Tony Bento. He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Tiberia Cordeiro and her husband John, and his sister-in-law Alda Bento. His many nieces and nephews will also fondly remember their wonderful uncle.

Those who knew Claudio best will remember the simple pleasures that truly made his day: the refreshing taste of a cold ginger ale, and the quiet peace of catching some sun on a bright afternoon.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside interment service on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery 1885 London Line, Sarnia, ON N7T 7H2
