Clinton George Hunter, 81, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep in Plympton-Wyoming on June 11th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, dedication, and integrity.
Born in Virden, Manitoba, on June 18, 1944, Clinton was the son of the late Russell Gould and Roberta Annie (Dryden) Hunter. In his late teens, he spent a year working at the Thompson nickel mine before beginning a long and successful career in the retail industry with Metropolitan Stores and later Sentry Department Stores, managing several locations across Western Canada and Ontario. Following the closure of Sentry in Sarnia, Clinton and his wife, Linda (Elliott), his devoted partner of 48 years, owned and operated several successful small businesses in Sarnia and Camlachie.
In retirement, Clinton devoted his time to gardening, reading, and crafting birdhouses from unused or recycled construction materials. Over the years, he built thousands of them, many of which have found homes throughout the region and brought joy to countless families.
Clinton was predeceased by his brothers Robert (Linda) and Brian (Nicole), and by his sister in law Nancy (David) LePage. He is survived by his brother Fraser (Nancy) and his sister Janet (the late Don) Johnson.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Jeff; and his grandchildren Lila, Dominic, Maylee, and Kayson, who were a constant source of pride and happiness.
Also mourning his loss are his in laws Patricia (James) Davidson, Allan (Janet) Elliott, Beverley (the late John) Corkum, David (Nancy) Elliott, Michael (Lina) Elliott, and Debbie (Ben) Timperley. Clinton leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, whom he delighted in welcoming into his workshop and guiding with his characteristic practical wisdom.
