LASIS, Evalds - passed away peacefully on July 30th, 2015 at the age of 96, after a brief illness.
Evalds will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Aina, his sister-in-law Maiga Sketris, his children, Anita and Elmars, his nieces Ingrid Sketris and Rita Nycz, his nephews Paul Sketris and Juris Jente and his grandchildren Janis Charbonneau, Aija Charbonneau, Anthea Lasis, Carmen Lasis and Maeve Lasis, his son-in-law Serge Charbonneau, and daughter-in-law Ellen McNeill.
He was born in Jumprava, Latvia and studied Forestry in Jelgava, Latvia. After immigrating to Canada he graduated from the University of Western Ontario (1957), and worked his entire career as a research chemist at Polysar (now Nova Chemicals). Evalds was an active member of the Latvian community, the Latvian church, and a passionate proponent of forest conservation and reforestation.
A funeral will be held in Sarnia at the DJ Robb Funeral home on Wednesday August 5th. Visitation is at 11:00 AM, the funeral service at 12:00 PM and a reception back at the funeral home immediately after the procession to Lakeview Cemetery.
