“…love knows not it’s own depth until the hour of separation”

“Gone to be home with his maker”, Peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, June 20, 2020, Gordon Roy Scott, age 89 of Sarnia passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Jean (Lumley) Scott (2006). Dear father of Linda McCaffery and her husband John of Hamilton, David and his wife Kathy of Sarnia, Mark Scott and his wife Debra of Bright’s Grove and Bill Scott of Sarnia. Will be missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Mildred Scott and his sister Ruth. Gordon lived in Sarnia all of his life, and during that time he gave back to his community.

He was married to Margaret for 56 years and raised a family of four. In the beginning, Gordon worked at various jobs, Murphy’s Tobacco, Canada Bread, Sarnia Riding Club and also belonged to  the Sarnia 1st Hussars  for 17 years.  Eventually, he joined Imperial Oil where he worked as a mechanic for 35 ½ years and made many life-long friends. Gordon was an active community member. He served on many boards for Devine St. United Church and upon its closure, he joined St. Luke’s United Church. He was a Cub Scout Leader for over 31 years. Gordon was also a dedicated volunteer at Vision Nursing Home for 15 years where he helped with various programs,  including setting up a woodworking shop for the residents.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking, family camping, trips to Florida, trips abroad, and many sightseeing bus trips (Branson).   

The family would like to thank the staff at MGM (Iris Court) for all their kindness and support during his stay.  Special thanks to Courtney and nursing staff.

A private funeral will be held at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Limited with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
