After a life well lived, the Lord called home Harold Thompson on Sunday, October 27th at the age of 73. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Shirley Thompson, his sister Linda Graham and dear companion Christiana Maier. He is survived by his daughter Paula O’Mahony and Finn O’Mahony, brothers Daniel and Ronald Thompson, sisters in law Gloria Thompson and Eila Kuosmanen, nieces and nephews Christopher, Lisa Marie, Leslie, Andrew and Karen. He will be sadly missed by his dear friends Victor and Michael Maier and mother of Paula, Linda Thompson. An avid student of history and literature, he graduated in 1968 with a B.A. from Western. Ever the academic and lover of antiquities, he completed a degree in museology later in life. Proud of his settler roots he loved to delve into his family history and ancestry, fraternally in Forest, Ontario and maternally in New Brunswick. He touched the lives of many during his lifetime, his adventures and various pursuits endowed him with a wisdom and understanding exceeded by few. He was a devoted father and friend whose unending love, kindness and protection will be cherished forever. His gentle soul, sharp wit and unwavering faith are gifts that shall live in our memories. The family wishes to acknowledge and give our sinerest thanks to Dr. John O’Mahony, Dr. Allison Crombeen and Dr. David Kim as well as the compassionate nurses and caregivers at both Bluewater Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice. Funeral services will be held at Peoples Church, 3888 London Line, Wyoming, Ontario, N0N 1T0, on Thursday, October 31st at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service.
