"Mom used the ancient washing machine with a ringer/ roller-bars atop it, hanging clothes out on a line in fresh country air, drinking well-water from our back yard bailing it with a ~ 20 foot chain & a bucket, kettle-boiled water was used for washcloth bathing, no indoor plumbing, a woodstove heated home, toboggan rides from Mom, building snowmen with Mom, very petite record players and transistors from Dad (deceased 1980o419) & from Mom lots of affection throughout childhood. We enjoyed plenty of outdoor and indoor games played in childhood. Mom taught us (my brother, Murray, & I ) to colour happily and nicely. She read Mother Goose nursery rhymes, & encouraged us to read regularly. She worked very hard and often planted, tended, and harvested vegetables in our gardens after The LORD caused them to grow. Mom slopped the pigs, fed the chickens, ducks, rabbits, and horses, & Mom did all that's involved with canning fruit & vegetables into jars. Rural Route Newbury, ON is where we're from until Murray and I reached young adulthood, then we all left Newbury. " <<< Harriett really enjoyed fishing & camping at Mitchells Bay, ON with the late greatly influential Mr. Strevel, and Ruth Bishop, amongst others. Harriett also found pleasure in playing "Cats", "Euchre", and "Cribbage" all with various people regularly at the Sarnia RCL Br.#62, and at the RCAF Local#4o3 Wing, where she befriended John & Freida Stewart. John has since passed away. Mr.. Stewart's widow, Freida, ~ monthly picked Harriett up to go dining and shopping together. (Thank you, Freida! Big hug!) Andrew wishes to thank Mary Debus, Irene, and Shannon & Bill, =neighbour’s /acquaintances who had "Hennie", as they called her, over to their apartments for coffee and tea and to play Euchre and chat.
Harriett also liked assembling jigsaw puzzles of particularly 1,000 pieces, and reading romance novels, & feeding squirrels. Harriett learned how to imitate at least three different bird species by whistling. Harriett and her youngest son Andrew had regularly played various board games, and different card games while listening to Harriett's favourite singers / entertainers including Stompin' Tom Connors, Michelle Wright, Hank Snow, Terri Clark, Anne Murray, and Rita McNeal. Harriett and Andrew frequently watched DVD movies together. Over the holidays (Holy Days), and regular days made to be special, they shared plenty of gifts including collectables, flowers, money, meals, clothes, day trips to Niagara Falls, Mitchell's Bay, making lovely memories . Now, a very special "Gracias" and te amo for the truly commendable relationship that Patricio (Timm, Etobicoke/GTHA) cultivated with Andrew's mother, Harriett. Harriett displayed many framed pictures of Timm horseback riding, attending Blue Jays baseball, and at county fairs with herself and Andrew. Harriett enjoyed the many, many cards & notes that Patricio frequently mailed to her. (Yo tambien, Patricio.)
