Jo-Ella Nickels

Nickels (nee Pyette), Jo-Ella (Dec 7, 1945-Nov 8, 2022)

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at St Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday November 8^th, at the age of 76.  Jo-Ella (known to most as Jo) was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Nickels (2007) of 32 years.  Loving friend of John for 13 years and her extended family Melissa (Sam), Krystal (Philip) and Olivia, Max, Elodie, Charlie and John’s siblings and their families. Dearly missed by her beloved niece Jo-Ella (Steve) (Morreau) Maitland and the other Morreau girls; Judi (Mark), Janet (Rob), Donna (Anthony) and Elsie (Todd).

Dear sister and friend to Marylou (Mark 2022) Nickels.  Jo is predeceased by her two brothers, Tom (Rochelle) Pyette (2001), Ted (Evelyn) Pyette (2013) and four sisters, Jeanette (Peter) Morreau (1996), Grace (Mark) Folan (2016), Sally (Les) Newman (2018) and Kathie (Rick) Mills (2022).

Jo was a special Aunt to the Daly’s, Savage’s and Pyette’s families, she was fun, silly always making everyone smile.  She was also proud that she was a Great, Great Aunt. 

Jo spent almost 50 years at her happy place, the Mooretown campground where she spent her summers reading, enjoying happy hours and visiting with the hummingbirds.

Jo-Ella was a life member of the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen’s Association.

A memorial gathering will be held at D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia) on Saturday November 19^th, with visitation at 11:00 am and a service to follow at 12:00 pm.  A celebration of Jo-Ella’s life will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, 286 Front St N, Sarnia from 1-4 pm.

A special thanks to Dr. Maddison and the St Joseph’s Hospice staff for all the care, kindness and compassion to Jo and her family.  Thank you as well to Dr. Lebert and the Oncology staff at Bluewater Health.
