Peacefully in her sleep, Margaret May (Briggs) Swan passed away on July 22nd in her 101st year. Margaret (Maggie May) will join her husband of 48 years, John (Jack) Swan (1991). Predeceased by her siblings Donalda Mackey, James (J.D.) , and Charles Briggs, her son James Swan and her grandson Eric Rudzroga. Margaret leaves behind her brother Archie Briggs, her son Robert (Joy) Swan, son John Swan and daughter Helen (Haralds) Rudzroga. Also proud grandmother to Jackie (Dan), Katie (Brad), Kelly (Greg), Philip (Lisa), Catherine, David (Alicia), Tom (Nat), Janet (Chris), Kevin, Diego and Daniel. Great-grandmother to Megan, Michael, A.J., Sophia, Isabella, Gabriel, Chloe, Ben, Lizzie, Laura, Evan, Jackie, Rachel, Jaylin, Daniel, Sabrina, Alexandra, Chelsea, Blaine and River. Margaret and Jack settled in Sarnia in 1945, with Marg staying at home once the children came. She was a very active member at St. Paul's United Church, being in the UCW, a Board member, and an Elder. She also volunteered with the John Howard Society for many years. Margaret's favourite pastimes included camping, canoeing, swimming her lengths at the Y, walking and playing bridge. Marg moved to Vision Rest Home in 2006 and then to the Nursing Home following a broken hip in 2014. She was well loved by the staff. We would like to thank the staff at Vision for their compassion and care of mom throughout her stay. They went above and beyond our expectations. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place in Waterdown at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9.
