Martin Lawrence Horan

January 8, 1933 — February 27, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Martin Lawrence Horan on February 27, 2018, at the age of 85. Predeceased by his wife, Jessie (2004) and his brothers, Leo, Barney, Patrick, Harold, Peter, Jack and Terry. Survived by his children, Kerry (Dawn) Horan, Tyson (Nancy) Horan, Melissa (Dave) Post, and Wendy aka Fred (Jamie) Horan. Grandfather to Matthew and Jason Horan, Rochelle and Conner Post, Jessica, Stephanie and Natasha Cottrell. Martin will also be missed by his canine buddy, Demon. Born in Verdun, Quebec in 1933, he moved to Sarnia in 1964 where he owned and operated Bluewater Inspection and Testing and Canadian Cutting and Coring.  Dad was an intelligent, hard-working, private person with a quirky sense of humour. Dad always spoke fondly of, and is forever grateful for, the neighbours and friendships he had on Beverley Road. Dad always spoke about living in the best neighbourhood ever and felt it would be difficult to find such a wonderful bunch of neighbours and friends elsewhere. Dad would often reminisce about growing up in Montreal as much as he did about living on Beverley Road. He had so many great memories of both. We would like to thank Dr. Greensmith and his staff (Barb and Kathy) for all the excellent care provided to dad as his family physician and most recently as his palliative care doctor. A very special thank you to the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph's Hospice.  Words cannot express our gratitude and appreciation for all of your care, compassion and understanding you provided to Dad, as well as our family. You all contributed to making Dad's final weeks much more comfortable for him and for us. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Dad's wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. Arrangements entrusted to D.J. Robb Funeral Home and Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Martin, may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice or the charity of your choice. Memories and messages of condolence may be made through www.djrobb.on.ca. There will be a private family service at Lakeview Cemetery where Martin will once again be reunited with Jessie, the love of his life.
