Mary Frances Symington

September 8, 1931 — May 1, 2025

Sarnia

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet Mother, Mary Frances (Simpson) Symington. Mary passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Keith Robertson (Bob) Symington. Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario to parents Hazel and William Simpson. She was predeceased by her brother George (Bud) Simpson, brother-in-law Barry Symington and son-in-law James Taylor.

She was a devoted mother to Ruth (Graeme) Leney, Robert (Bob) Symington and Carol (James) Taylor. Mary loved the time spent with her cherished grandchildren, Steven Taylor, Lisa Taylor and fiancée, Jordan Kindred. Mary will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law, Betty Symington (Barry) along with her many nieces and nephews.

Mom enjoyed her time spent with “Bobby” making dinners together and watching old movies. Bob has been her steadfast companion which we will always remember and be grateful for. Mary enjoyed camping trips, family celebrations and travels with Dad. She supported us with all of our activities and loved to sew and knit for us. Mary was also known for her beautiful orchid garden which everyone admired in her front porch window for many years. She loved her friends who all knew her kind and friendly personality.

Mary always enjoyed music especially from the “Big Band” era. Mary and Bob loved to go to dances and swing to “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller. Even in her last weeks, as she listened to music, we watched her feet moving to the beat. Mary will be remembered for her love, laughter and generosity.

“A heartfelt thank you to family and friends for all of the support during the past several months”

As per Mary’s request, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral service. A private family celebration will take place at a later date.

“A special thank you is extended to Dr. MacSweeney and the Palliative Care Staff of Bluewater Health along with their outstanding Home Care Team”
