                                                                Myrtle Ruth Austin (nee Stanbra, Thingstad).

Myrt passed away peacefully at Vision Nursing Home on January 2, 2026 at the age of 97. Surviving is her loving son Barry (Andrea) Thingstad and step-daughter Sharon Austin of Denver Colorado. Cherished grandmother of Craig (Marika) Connolly, Jake (Jess) Thingstad and Randy (Natasha) Thingstad. Also her great grandchildren Brianna and Sebastien Connolly, Kennedy, Bowen and Tilly Thingstad. Predeceased by her husband’s Arnold Thingstad (1965) and Don Austin (2002). Myrt was also predeceased by her daughter Beverley and her husband Gary Spencer and grandson Kyle Connolly. Myrt was born in Stonewall, Manitoba, the youngest child out of 9 siblings born to Herbert and Annie Standbra. Myrt was a retiree of Polysar. She enjoyed golfing, fiddle contests, working at the Sarnia Legion where she was a lifetime member. Myrt enjoyed watching curling and the Blue Jays. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Vision Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion during mom’s stay. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at a later date.
