Pirkko Purontaka

Peacefully at Vision Nursing Home on Thursday June 25, 2020 PIRKKO PURONTAKA passed away at the age of 93 yrs.  Beloved wife of the late Vilho Purontaka.  Sister of Outi Lohi and loving godmother of Sirkka,  sister-in-law of Maire Lohi, Kerttu Purontaka and the late Liisa Kultanen all in Finland. Sister-in-law of the late Aino Viitasalo, aunt of Brenda Viitasalo and John Viitasalo of Levack.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families in Finland. Predeceased by parents Emil and Editha Lohi, brother Kalevi Lohi and sister Paula (Tauno) Sinkkonen all in Finland. Pirkko’s journey began in Finland, then to England and later immigrated to Canada as a nanny. She was a faithful member of the Sarnia Evangelical Missionary Church looking after the children in the nursery and always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Pirkko will be greatly  missed by her friends Art and Annie Cotton.  She was an avid gardener and her produce will be missed by all those who enjoyed her bounty. A graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery will be held on Tuesday June 30th at 10:00 a.m. (masks and social distancing required). Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia Evangelical Missionary Church or the charity of your choice.  Arrangements entrusted to the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE.
