Sherman Russel Maness

Suddenly at Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2017.  SHERMAN MANESS, passed away at the age of 67; formerly of Sarnia. Beloved life partner of Sharon Wayling of 23 years and his cat Tovah. Dear son of the late Arthur and Elvira (nee Jackson) Maness. Sherman is survived by his sisters; Sandra (Marc) Mok and Sharren (Ray) Fisher. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Sherman will be deeply missed by his many cherished friends and family in Guelph. Sherman enjoyed playing darts and played at Wolly and Fat Duck Pub. He was also a member of the Guelph Royal City Slo Pitch League for more than two decades. He was involved with the Friendship Centre movement for many years, working with the Ontario Federation of Indigenous  Friendship Centres. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of 4th. floor at the Guelph General Hospital. Funeral service will be held from the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community and Youth Centre (1972 Virgil Avenue, Sarnia, ON) on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes will take place at the Aamjiwnaang (Chippewas of Sarnia First Nation) Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community and Youth Centre (1972 Virgil Avenue, Sarnia, ON) on Monday, February 13, 2017 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Memorial donations in memory of  Sherman may be made to the Ontario Federation of Indigenous  Friendship Centres.
