Shirley Anne Gibson

GIBSON, SHIRLEY – As the result of an automobile accident on Saturday, November 19, 2016 it is with sadness the family announces the death of Shirley Anne (Strangway) Gibson, age 79 of Sarnia. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret Ann (Gibb) Strangway and is survived by her sons Douglas of Sarnia and David of Cardston, AB., her grandchildren Julie Inderbitzin (Roman) of Williamsburg, Kyle Maness (Lacy) of Corunna, Katie Gibson of Grand Prairie, AB. and Blake Gibson of Sarnia, several great-grandchildren: Vienna, Lucas, Olivia Inderbitzin and Roslyn Maness. She was also survived by brothers Donald Strangway of Corunna, Ronald Strangway (Bonnie) of Oil Springs. She was a lifelong friend of Donna and Kelly Thompson and a loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Richard (July 31st, 2015), sisters Jaqueline (Ike) Hill and Mary Margaret Wilkinson (Duncan). Shirley graduated in 1957 from the Sarnia General Hospital School of Nursing and retired from there as a Registered Nurse after 42 years of service. She was a long time member of Laurel Lea/ St. Matthews Presbyterian Church. Shirley cherished her time with family and friends, visiting, traveling, organizing family events and spending time with them. She enjoyed morning aquatics, Tuesday dominos with the ladies, Thursday night dinner and cards at the Point Edward Service Club and nursing alumni events. Cremation will take place and interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. Friends are welcomed to visit with the family at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Thursday, November 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorial donations made to St. Joseph’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the D. J.
